Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson is speaking out following a report that her sister Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
After TMZ reported that Anna is battling adrenal carcinoma, Alana appeared to confirm the news by re-sharing the article and sending an important reminder to her fans.
"& this is what I mean when I say you never truly know what somebody is going through at home. No matter how famous they are," the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star, 17, wrote on Instagram Stories March 30. "Yes, I'm very famous but normal s--t happens to me and my family & y'all need to realize that asap."
Family sources told TMZ that Anna, 28, received her diagnosis in January after experiencing stomachaches and undergoing a series of tests, with cancer being found in her liver, kidney and lung. The insiders shared with the outlet that she started chemotherapy last month and that her family is remaining "very hopeful."
Alana and Anna's mother Mama June Shannon—who is also mom to daughters Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird, 23, and Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon, 26—appeared to confirm the news as well by resharing the article on Instagram Stories and tagging her eldest child.
Anna—who appeared on the TLC series with her family—has yet to speak publicly about her health. However, on March 28, the mother of two—whose children include 10-year-old Kaitlyn and 7-year-old Kylee—resurfaced on Instagram after almost eight months away from the platform.
"Well I ain't posted here in a while," Anna wrote in her post. "Your girl is back sorry for the photo dump that's going to happen hahah I love y'all and I hope y'all hope y'all are having a good week #imback #2023 #tiktok."
